About Michael J Morales

I am a graphic designer/artist for over twenty years. I plan, analyze, and create visual solutions to communications problems. I decide the most effective way of getting a message across in print, electronic, and film media using a variety of methods such as color, type, illustration, photography, animation, and various print and layout techniques. I work diligently to develop the overall layout and production design of magazines, newspapers, corporate reports, and other publications. I also help to produce promotional displays, packaging, and marketing brochures for products and services, design distinctive logos for products and businesses, and develop signs and signage for business. I also develop material for Internet Web pages, interactive media, and multimedia projects.

I am an excellent team player as well as an outstanding leader, with solid communication skills and ability to blend into any kind of work environment.

My History

Like any kid growing up in the suburbs of Union City California ... I had no direction. But one thing I knew I was good at ...was "Doodling" ...I drew everyday! In class, at home, in church, on long drives ... I always had an eye for the ARTS. I was always the "A" student in any art or drawing classes. I loved to draw comic book characters like Batman, Wolverine, Captain America, etc.

One day a friend of mine was looking through my photo album. He noticed how I cut out pictures and added other certain elements to my album to enhance the look of each photos or pages like tv's and cars ... cut out from magazines. He suggested that I get into Graphic Design ... of course I had no idea what he was talking about ... so I looked it up ... found local schools that teach hands on graphic applications to do exactly that. I enrolled in Silicon Valley College where I received a diploma in Computer Graphics Specialists and also took courses in Academy of Arts in San Francisco. ....THIS is where my journey in the fine arts of Graphic Design begins!

Who said "Doodling" will get you no where! ;)

1997 - 2000 - I started in print production as a Graphic Artist at NurseWeek magazine in Sunnyvale, CA. Nurseweek was a great stepping stone in the graphics field where I learned the nature of printing. Every Friday's were deadlines and a normal day could last between 12 to 24 hours. I flew to Los Angeles every other week for press checks. I grew with the company as technology advanced through the years from 1997 to 2000.

2000 - 2002 - After three years I moved on to Credence Systems Corporation as a Senior Graphic Designer in the Marketing Communications department. I worked on several PR materials such as brochures, company newsletters, advertisements, internal website, large tradeshow displays, and Executive board & CEO powerpoint.

2003 - 2004 - I gained further experience working at Beeline Group in Newark, CA. Where I worked on several projects for companies such as Nike, Sony, HP, NBA, NFL, MLB, Robert Mondavi, Sutter Home Winery, Target, Toys "R" Us, Wal-Mart and many others. My main projects were creations of POP displays, advertisements, brochures, tradeshows, and signage.

2004 - 2010 - I started a new position at Logitech in Fremont, CA. I worked in Global Worldwide Marketing in the Brand Identity group where I was the Sr. Graphic/Production Artist. I worked on several projects from box concepts/updates, create guidelines, Illustrations of products, etc. Logitech was a great experience for me where I worked on several different projects and had a great professional relationship with various experts in there fields.

2010 - 2011 - I work with a few different design groups that cater to Cisco Systems and created PowerPoint Presentations. I would work on Presentations that would last through the weekends and sometimes throughout the night to early mornings!

2012 - I also worked on projects for Tesla Motors as the Senior Contract Technical Illustrator and created illustrations that will be displayed on the in-vehicle display system for Car & Driver's Car of the year 2012 – The Model S, Also for iPad tablets, websites and in various online and printed documents.

... In July of 2010 I had the greatest gift of all, my son Bryson Andrew Morales was born! I Thank my wife Lisa Morales for giving me the greatest gift of all! My focus for the arts is much greater now. My purpose is something I did not have before.

I have been creating more and more since my boy was born... especially on my Son's Birthdays, Halloween, Christmas, etc ... more fun & creative times ahead!

I love the reaction I get on my designs from managers, clients or projects I am a part of. The reaction is priceless and I strive to accomplish that same reaction every single time! Of course you can't please everyone all the time and I am use to 1st, 2nd or 3rd criticism and/or corrections ... but the reaction I get after concerns are addressed, are just as satisfying!
